This month began with a very exciting transition from the staff cabins at camp to my own little tiny apartment in Andrews. The Lord has truly provided through my family to allow me to paint, add furniture, put food in the fridge, and really just make it feel like home. I write this now sitting on my couch with my feet propped up, enjoying yet another episode of The Flash. More on how my little place came together throughout this post.
The first week of February was a fun one. We had an off weekend, which doesn’t happen much around here in this season at camp, so I spent it enjoying coffee and painting my walls with a good friend. The next week, we started our Theology II class in the Snowbird Institute, which will officially be the last class I sit through as an intern here at camp. I have thoroughly enjoyed every class, and it is really cool to look back on what I have learned through them since being here. This week, we are discussing eschatology, and I am sure by the end of it I will know every detail of when and how Christ will return, or something like that. The following weekend, we played hard on rec and had countless conversations with students as we wrapped up our Winter SWO season.
As if February hadn’t already been exciting enough, it also ended our summer staff hiring process. What does that mean? The Summer 2021 staff have officially been hired! Soon enough, my mountain home will be infiltrated by 100 more people who are here to work hard, have fun, and carry out gospel ministry for three painfully short summer months. 13 weeks. Thousands of eternal souls. Hundreds of new friendships that will literally last a lifetime. I am ecstatic to meet the new staff in a couple of months. Week 3 of February gave me a new excitement for what this summer will bring, and for warm weather!
This month, we also ran our Pure and Holy retreat, where we challenged students to live in a way contrary to the culture around them, choosing to follow Jesus and preach a gospel contrary to the over sexualized lifestyle this nation is addicted to and being destroyed by. I often find myself being challenged by the same things we put before students to challenge them, and I am thankful the Lord has placed me in a ministry that is so committed to preaching the truth of the gospel and that is so submissive to the authority of Scripture.
The last weekend of February was the most fun of all of them because I got a visit from my parents. My mom and step-dad brought down furniture, kitchen supplies, and willing hands to help me put some finishing touches on my little apartment. I enjoyed having them here, although it felt weird for my parents to visit me and stay in my home. I guess this means I am really an adult now. They headed home, and I enjoyed an evening with some friends before heading back to work this morning.
It was an incredibly fast month and a lot happened. As always, the Lord continues to teach me new things. I am learning more of what it means to trust Him fully, what it looks like to be a humble servant (I definitely have not arrived anywhere near this one yet), and what it means to submit my own desires and wills to His perfect desire and will for me. All good things, and definitely more exciting things to come.

I like these people very much.
